Techno Q: AOTO perimeter LED at five Qatar football stadiums

Techno Q, one of the Gulf region’s leading audio-visual systems integrators, needed match-day playout software for the AOTO perimeter LED boards at five professional football venues in Qatar — four of them FIFA World Cup 2022 stadiums. The venues

The project covers five professional football grounds: Al Bayt Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium and Al Gharafa Stadium. The first four hosted matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup; all five host Qatar Stars League football today.

Each venue has its own pitchside LED band, its own match-day operator and its own sponsor inventory — so each one runs its own LedPlayMeter installation, licensed separately, with no dependency on a central server or an internet connection.

The brief

Techno Q’s request was specific: video playback and device control software for AOTO perimeter LED screens at a football ground, installed as a primary and a secondary (backup) machine. The band had to run a timed sponsor rotation on its own, cut to match moments — goal, substitution, half-time — in one click, and give the commercial team evidence of what was shown.

The panel manufacturer’s own tools cover calibration, pixel mapping and the electrical side of the wall. They are not built around sold advertising inventory. That gap — the content and operations layer — is what the integrator was looking to fill with one software standard across all five venues.

Why LedPlayMeter

  • Works with the AOTO hardware as installed. LedPlayMeter renders one full-width output on the match-day PC; the AOTO controller captures it and maps it across the cabinets.   • Device control from the same panel. For this project LedPlayMeter gained a device-control layer: brightness of the AOTO ATLVC controller is set from the operator’s browser over the controller’s own network interface, so the operator does not switch tools during a match.
  • A browser is the operator console. The admin panel runs on the same PC, a laptop at the pitch side or an Android tablet used as a remote; the rendering machine stays in the rack.
  • Offline by design. Licensing, media processing and playback all run on the local machine. Match day does not depend on venue internet.
  • One standard for five venues. The same field template, playlist and scene workflow at every ground makes operators interchangeable and support predictable.

Primary and backup PC at every venue

Each venue licence covers a primary and a backup machine. The backup mirrors the primary over the local network — media, scenes, playlists and settings — and stands ready to take over the output if the primary drops. Content added to the primary between matches is synchronised to the backup without a restart, so the mirror is never stale on match day.

The licence itself is perpetual and tied to the venue, with no recurring fee for playback. Activation is done once, offline, on each machine.

Sponsor rotation and proof of play

Sponsor content is organised as advertisers, campaigns and quotas. The player paces each campaign towards its contracted number of exposures and writes a playout ledger with the date and time of every showing. After the match the commercial team exports a per-sponsor report — the evidence the brief asked for.

Match moments are quick actions: one click pauses the rotation, plays the goal or substitution creative and returns to where the rotation left off.

Timeline

  • July 2026 — requirement and quotation: five single-venue lifetime licences, each covering a primary and a backup PC.
  • August 2026 — licences issued to Techno Q; on-site activation begins venue by venue.
  • September 2026 — first match-day output at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium: sponsor rotation on the perimeter boards during Qatar Stars League football. Photos and a clip from that match are on the venue page and below.

What the operator does on match day

Open the full-screen player on the PC wired to the AOTO controller. Open the admin panel in a browser. Pick the match playlist — or let the match rotation that was prepared in advance start on schedule. During play, fire quick actions when the match demands it, adjust brightness as the light changes, and let the sponsor rotation run itself. After the final whistle, export the sponsor report.

Outcome

Five professional venues licensed under one software standard, delivered by a regional integrator, on the LED hardware the venues already owned. Operators need a browser, not a vendor certification. And because the software is hardware-independent, a future panel or controller change at any of the venues does not change the content workflow.

Does LedPlayMeter work with AOTO perimeter LED?

Does each stadium need its own licence?
