LED Boarding Software

Across continental Europe the advertising band around the pitch is simply called LED boarding — and it is no longer exclusive to top-flight football. Multi-sport halls, ice rinks and mid-size stadiums all run digital boarding now. This is what the software side looks like.

LED boarding is the continental-European name for the digital advertising band at the edge of the field of play. What began in Champions-League-level football has spread everywhere: handball and basketball halls, volleyball arenas, ice rinks, athletics tracks. The hardware got affordable; what decides whether the boarding actually earns money is the software that runs it every event.

The job: turn a folder of sponsor files into a timed, synchronized rotation on the boarding — and keep a log that proves each sponsor got their contracted exposure.

What LED boarding software handles

Built for European venue reality

Most European halls are multi-sport: handball on Saturday, basketball on Sunday, a concert next month. Software-driven boarding adapts per event — a different field template, a different sponsor set, a different scene list — without touching the hardware. And because many halls sit behind strict venue networks, the whole system runs offline on the local network: internet is needed only for updates, never during a match.

One PC instead of a control system rack

Player PC → HDMI/SDI → LED processor → boarding

The player opens full-screen on the PC wired to the LED processor; the processor captures it like any video source and maps it across the band. This makes the software independent of the panel brand — the same setup runs on whatever boarding your hall installed, and survives a future panel upgrade untouched.

Boarding, Bande, perimeter — same surface

German speakers say LED-Bande, the industry says perimeter LED display, the UK says pitchside boards. The software requirements are identical; only the pixel map of your band differs. If you are starting from zero, the plain-English guide covers the basics.
